My studio and flower farm is in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, where I live with my family, my dog Ella, and Barney the cat, next door to my artisan gallery, The Barn Swallow. Our gardens were started 30 years ago, with many of the trees and shrubs starting at just a foot high. Influenced by wild cottage gardens, ours draws upon nostalgic elements such as old-fashioned scents and rustic touches and floral treasures.
The gardens are a true collaborative effort between myself, my husband, my son and my brother. Many of the flowers I grow are started from seed. We use season extenders such as caterpillars and a greenhouse to encourage along the cooler growing season plants.
